
Warning signs
Recognising the warning signs is really important.
Here are some examples:

Frequently having racing thoughts

Feeling tired but finding it difficult to sleep

Sleeping more than usual

Feeling more irritable than usual

Feeling angry more quickly

Feeling impatient and snappy

Becoming more tearful

Struggling to maintain relationships

Having frequent mood swings

Having aches and pains with no obvious cause

Not wanting to see friends or go anywhere

Feeling apprehensive or dreading something that normally wouldn’t bother me
This is the latest version and 2026 update to the mental wellbeing toolbox first developed in 2022. The toolbox was developed in partnership with the Recovery College and the support of their Lived Experience Group and Health Watch. It is a Healthy Places and Communities partnership publication from Amplius, bpha, Peabody, BeActive and Public Health (Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes) and is supported by the Chartered Institute for Housing.
